Tradesman Place contracts with existing businesses and new businesses to provide space on the Tradesman Place campus for students to earn and learn. High School students are placed with a business through OJT to immediately start learning real-world applications in the industry of their choice while getting paid. During this time, students are earning graduation requirements and valuable industry certifications. This work-based learning program has zero tuition costs to students as we foster linkages between students in career training programs with local business partners. Tradesman Place intends to grow future entrepreneurs that will begin new businesses or continue working in existing businesses as current employees age out or retire. Learning is hands-on and the learning is designed to increase student responsibility over time. “Skill-up” allows for students to receive continuous learning opportunities and can qualify the student for support in owning and starting their own business in the future upon graduation.
